For two years, I cared for no one else but myself. I didn’t think I was interested in being cared for, so I built a tough exterior. For the most part, it was okay. But low and behold, I found came to a realisation: being cared for IS nice! Who would’ve thought? People care in different, often random ways.

A lot of people don’t like being upfront about their feelings — me in particular. Gestures of love and friendship are often small and can be overlooked. So, how can you tell?

They make small gestures.

While big things are what people will talk about, the small ones are what you remember.

I didn’t think I cared, but having your partner buy facemasks and proposing a pamper night is sweet. Not to mention, my skin feels great the next morning.

Small gestures like that show their interest in you. Plus, it can lead to fond memories — such as the £2 mask sticking too well to your girlfriend’s face and watching her struggle to peel it off (it’s funnier than it sounds).

They take a genuine interest in your interests.
