How Not to Live Your Life

Two lessons learned from “Million Dollar Beach House.”

Like most people, when I see a lovely house, I point and go “ooh look at that house.” So, naturally, my girlfriend and I switched on Netflix’s recent reality TV show called “Million Dollar Beach House.”

It started well, showing various multi-million dollar houses in the Hamptons. I enjoyed it. Then “reality” set in.

For three episodes, an argument started and quickly spread. Like a virus, it infected everyone else around it until all the main characters were involved.

No longer could I admire a beach view with an infinity pool. Instead, I am subjected to pointless bitching between realtors.

Suffice to say; we soon switched it off.

At first, these wealthy realtors look to be living an ideal life. They earn a lot of money (6% commission), have nice houses and seem to like what they do. As reality TV shows tend to do, good content was replaced with petty squabbles.

I firmly believe that anything which makes you feel something can be learnt from. This is no exception.

Drama for Drama’s Sake

This defines every single reality TV show in a nutshell.
